SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

The Menomonee Valley was named One of the 10 Best Developments in the Nation by the Sierra Club because of the Valley’s sustainable redevelopment practices.  Menomonee River Valley businesses, nonprofits, civic champions and all levels of government have worked together for nearly two decades to redevelop the Valley as one of the best business locations in the region.  These stakeholders developed the Menomonee Valley Sustainable Design Guidelines to ensure high-quality redevelopment, environmental sensitivity and energy efficiency.

Like “Lean Manufacturing” principles, these guidelines are intended to ensure buildings are energy efficient and good for the bottom line, in addition to being good for the environment.  Today, all new development in the Menomonee Valley complies with these guidelines.
