In 1999, visionary partners came together to create Menomonee Valley Partners, a public/private partnership with a mission of revitalizing the Menomonee River Valley for the benefit of the greater Milwaukee community. Twenty years later, the Menomonee River Valley is a vibrant and thriving district with a national reputation as a model for economic development and environmental sustainability.

1999 marked 20 years since Menomonee Valley Partners was formed and celebrated 20 years of transformation in the Menomonee River Valley. We celebrated with partners, businesses, employees, and residents throughout the year!

Hear about the transformation in the Menomonee River Valley in the words of some of the partners who helped make it happen!

I pride myself on my imagination when it comes to commercial real estate, but my imagination wasn’t big enough to see what has since happened in the valley.
— James Barry Jr., chairman of The Barry Co. (Journal Sentinel, Barry Co. sells through Milwaukee's changes, October 2016)

“The Menomonee Valley of today stands as a symbol of Milwaukee’s renaissance. Together with strong partners, the City of Milwaukee is providing new opportunities for businesses to grow and succeed. I’m proud of our work and look forward to continued successes in attracting new companies and additional jobs to the Valley.”
— Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, 2006 Menomonee Valley Annual Report
