Celebrating 20 Years of Transformation with Valley Bingo

Explore the Menomonee River Valley this summer, its nature & trails, bars & restaurants, public art, and more!

In 1999, visionary partners came together to create Menomonee Valley Partners, a public/private partnership with a mission of revitalizing the Menomonee River Valley for the benefit of the greater Milwaukee community. Twenty years later, the Menomonee River Valley is a vibrant and thriving district with a national reputation as a model for economic development and environmental sustainability.     

We put together a fun challenge (Valley Bingo!) for you to explore the Valley—its nature & trails, bars & restaurants, public art, and more!

  • HOW TO REDEEM

  1. Visit one of the locations listed on the Valley Bingo card.

  2. Get each square of your bingo card marked with a unique marker at the locations below. Use #ValleyBingo on social media - we’ll like and share your great shots!

  3. Get 5-in-a-row to redeem a prize (listed on the back of your bingo card).

  • Bingo runs from July 19 through October 13. Redeem your prizes by October 13, 2019.

  • Pick up your Valley bingo card at any of the businesses listed on the card (also listed below.)

  • BLACKOUT PRIZE RAFFLE

    • If you get every space on your card marked, you can enter the raffle to win one of the Blackout Prizes (a Night at Potawatomi, a Day at the Harley-Davidson Museum, or lunch at Sobelmans).

      • To enter, send a photo off yourself with your completed bingo card to info@thevalleymke.org by noon on Thursday, October 24 OR submit your card at S’more Happy Hour at Third Space Brewing on Thursday, October 24 by 4:45pm. The drawing will take place at 5pm. You do not have to be present to win, but wouldn’t it be fun to be?

    • No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited.

    • One submission per person.

1. Valley Passage • Hank Aaron State Trail just north of the Urban Ecology Center Menomonee Valley Branch — Visit this restored connection between the Valley and the Silver City neighborhood. The paper punch to mark your card is attached to the back of the sign just east of the Valley Passage entrance. Learn more about the Valley Passage and Valley Passage mural.

 

2. Miller Park Bublr Station • Just north of the Miller Park Gantner Parking Lot — Use the paper punch attached to the back of the station to mark your bingo card. Bublr Bikes are a great deal and have many membership options from $24 for a 24-hour pass or $80 for the entire year! Travel here on the Hank Aaron State Trail for some pretty great game day parking AND you can avoid the traffic!

 

3. The People of the Road Monument W Milwaukee Road and W Canal Street — Visit the site of The People of the Road landmark that honors the workers and history of the Milwaukee Road Shops. The paper punch to mark your card is attached under the informational sign.

 

4. Rain Barrels • W Canal Street and W Milwaukee Road — Located directly beneath the 35th Street Viaduct, visit this innovative stormwater management solution that captures runoff from the viaduct. The marker is attached to the base of the green rain barrel under the viaduct stairs. Learn more about the Rain Barrels here.

5. Urban Ecology Center Menomonee Valley Branch • 3700 W Pierce Street — Visit the front desk to get your bingo card marked. Visit UEC’s website.

 

6. Public Art - A Place to Sit • Hank Aaron State Trail along the Menomonee River by Emmber Lane — This public art is located along the Hank Aaron State Trail. Find a paper punch to mark your bingo card attached to the chair in the middle. This piece has an interesting story - learn more here.

7. Third Space Brewing 1505 W St Paul Avenue — Visit the bar to get your bingo card marked. Visit Third Space Brewing and taste why they are one of the fastest growing breweries in Wisconsin!

9. Harley-Davidson Museum® • 400 W Canal Street — Visit the museum admission desk to get your bingo card marked. Grab a photo with Harley-Davidson Museum’s founders on the wall behind you or at The Shed outside while you’re there! Visit the Harley-Davidson Museum’s website.

10. BBC Lighting • 2015 W St Paul Ave — Visit the front desk to get your bingo card marked. Visit BBC Lighting’s website.

 

11. Three Bridges Park - Community Gardens • Hank Aaron State Trail East of the 35th Street Viaduct — There is a storage shed in the middle of the community gardens. You’ll find the hole punch attached to one of the pole’s bases. Three Bridges Park is the results of the Menomonee Valley - From the Ground Up project.

Materials Recovery Facility Tour or Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful (KGMB) • 217 N Emmber Lane — Sign up for a free Recycling and Natural Resources Talk and Tour (first Tuesday at 12 PM or third Thursday at 4:30 PM of each month) here or in person at Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful (1313 W Mt Vernon Ave). If you register for a tour in person or just stop by KGMB’s office, you can get your bingo card marked then. Did you know the Materials Recovery Facility is participating in Doors Open Milwaukee? Stop by for a guided tour with KGMB and get your card marked!

24. The Warehouse MKE • 1635 W. St. Paul Ave — Visit the front desk to get your bingo card marked. The Warehouse MKE, private art museum that is free and open to the public, is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11 am to 4 pm or by appointment. Visit their website.

 

25. Stormwater Management Informational Sign • Across from Ingeteam (3550 W Canal Street) — Visit the Stormwater Management informational sign along the Hank Aaron State Trail. The paper punch to mark your bingo card is attached to the pole holding the sign. There are informational signs all along the Trail!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Blackout Raffle Prize?

Participants who get every space on their card marked can bring it to the October finale event (date and location to be announced) and turn it in to be entered in a drawing to win one of three grand prizes:

  • A Night at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino: gift certificate for dinner and a night in the hotel

  • A Day at the Harley-Davidson Museum: $50 Gift Certificate to MOTOR® Bar & Restaurant, Two tickets to the Harley-Davidson Museum® with two audio tours

  • Lunch at Sobelman’s Bar & Grille: $20 gift certificate for lunch

 

Do I have to buy something at a location to get my card marked?

No purchase is necessary to participate in bingo.

 

Why is bingo happening?

This year marks 20 years of transformation and the 20th anniversary of Menomonee Valley Partners, a local nonprofit dedicated to the revitalizing and sustaining the Menomonee River Valley to recruit strong jobs and companies, restore the environment, and improve connections to surrounding neighborhoods—all to benefit the greater Milwaukee community.

Since 1999, 52 companies have moved to the Valley, over 5,200 family supporting jobs have been created, more than 300 acres of brownfields have been developed, and 60+ acres of trails and parks have been installed. Bingo is an opportunity for Milwaukee residents and visitors to experience the Valley’s revitalization—its nature & trails, bars & restaurants, public art, and more!
